Add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to your Porsche Cayman while keeping everything that makes it feel like a Porsche: the factory PCM screen, the rotary and touch controls, steering wheel buttons and Porsche's own sound quality. CarPlay Direct is the official UK authorised Mr12Volt reseller, so whether your Cayman runs PCM 2.0 / 2.1, PCM 3.0 or PCM 3.1, there's a genuine kit built for your car's exact system, not a generic box.

Apple Carplay & Android Auto Upgrades
Your Cayman runs one of three different PCM generations depending on when it was built. Use the table below to find yours by year, then use the checks underneath to confirm it, PCM 3.0 and 3.1 look identical on the dashboard and a photo won't tell them apart either, so the year is a starting point, not proof.
| Your Cayman | Years | System | Kit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 987.1 | 2006 to 2008 | PCM 2.0 / 2.1 | P800 Bluetooth kit, £159.99* |
| 987.2 | 2009 to 2012 | PCM 3.0 | PCM 3.0 kit, £399.99 |
| 981 | 2013 to 2016 | PCM 3.1 | PCM 3.1 kit, £399.99 |
*The P800 is a Bluetooth audio streaming and handsfree upgrade, not full Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Not Sure? Check your dashboard
Screen shape (tells you 2.0/2.1 apart from everything newer): PCM 2.0/2.1 (987.1, 2006 to 2008) has a smaller, roughly square screen with no touch function, everything is controlled by the rotary dial and buttons around it. PCM 3.0, 3.1, 4.0 and 6.0 all use a wider, letterbox-shaped screen spanning most of the console width. If yours is the small square screen, you're on PCM 2.0/2.1, you want the P800 kit below, no further checking needed.
Software version check (the only reliable way to tell 3.0 from 3.1): PCM 3.0 (987.2, 2009 to 2012) and PCM 3.1 (981, 2013 to 2016) use the exact same screen and button layout, so looking at the dashboard, or comparing it to a photo, won't tell them apart. With the ignition on, press SOURCE (bottom left of the screen) and INFO (to the right of the main control dial) at the same time, and the screen will display the software version, for example 3.0 or 3.1. This works even if your car already has an aftermarket CarPlay unit fitted, since it reads the underlying Porsche software rather than whatever's showing on screen.
